DAF Algorave

DAF Algorave

Algorave is a live format where the sound and visuals are programmed live by the artists: About Algorave

The DAF Cats Algorave took place live on the Bayerischer Rundfunks's online cultural stage during the Corona lockdown in March 2020. In the Algoraves of the Dynamische Akustische Forschung (DAF) at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg, many artists contribute to the sound simultaneously, so listening to the overall result and sensing the group's dynamics requires much attention during one's own programming. The challenge was to transport the essence of the DAF Algoraves into the digital space, mixing and returning the sounds and visuals from each artist's homes with as little delay as possible.

Many thanks to all participating artists: Sahisilja, Nele Jäger, Ramona Schmidt, Zimoshka, Anna Butter, Dtlv Doom, Kirsche von Bubach, Daniela Graf, Jonas Till Hoffmann aka Esciest Admits, Michael Akstaller, N'DRU aka Alexandru Salariu.

Unfortunately, the original video in the BR Mediathek is no longer available.

Below is the video of my contribution to the Algorave. I program the sound with TidalCycles and SuperCollider, and visuals with Hydra. In the video, you can hear the mixed audio tracks from all the Algoravers, as in the BR video.
